Peaceful Moments

My Favorite Quote About Life

happiness is a journey, not a destination...
for a long time it seemed to me
that life was about to begin --real life,
but there was always some obstacle in the way,
something to be gotten through first,
some unfinished business,
time still to be served, a debt to be paid.
at last it dawned on me
that these obstacles were my life.
this perspective has helped me to see
there is no way to happiness.
happiness is the way.
so treasure every moment you have
and remember that time waits for no one.

It's been a while since I posted last -- call it Facebook Junkie. It is Easter Eve, and I have been rushing around getting ready for family lunch tomorrow -- have been reflecting on the season and what it means...

May you be Blessed beyond measure at this Holy season.

If my mother had lived, she would have been 75 years old today.

Wow, I just realized it's been a while since I last posted. Life is funny that way -- we get way too busy. Where to begin?? I am still walking through the process of losing my mom last year -- the anniversary date was this month. I still miss her tremendously -- it seems to be the hardest when I am out and about driving home from different events -- I would always call her after a catering gig, or whatever was going on and tell her everything -- I know how she felt, as when my girls call me I am excited to hear what's happening in their lives and yes we talk very regularly too. But, I know I am not alone -- there are others who have lost their moms and survived the grief -- I too must move on.

I began a Pottery Class -- not ceramics but Pottery. Taking the clay and molding it into something is amazing. I still feel this must be how God feels in our lives as he molds us and shapes us -- we are a work in progress, just as my clay and wheel skills are a work in progress. I believe that everything and everyone leaves a mark on our lives -- whether negative or positive. As in my clay, it is the same I can put an unwelcome mark on it or a decorative one. I hope and pray that I am leaving only positive marks the the lives of the people I touch. Signing off for now. Blessings!

Mother's Day is in just a few days. I have dreaded this day longer than any other -- my friend Vicki and I are going through our first mothers day without ours, its hard to celebrate -- so I am trying to take the focus off of this day because I don't want my girls to feel this way when when it's their turn to go through this; one day I won't be here. We are having a nice dinner on Saturday -- family time-- and I'm going to brunch with a friend on Sunday, she and I can talk about our mothers and cry if we want to and we will be ok.

A lot has happened since my last post -- I turned 51, wooo-hooo, my grand boy is now two, and my baby girl got engaged to her high school sweetheart.
So, big plans and crazy days are ahead for us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What a day!

As all of you know, I am usually the one singing "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow"! Except tonight, I was in Green Hills shopping and unaware of what was happening where I live. It took me close to an hour to get home from my work (that is where my car was). The closer I got to home the worse the roads were. I slid several times and got stuck once. Here are some pics!
